CHAMPION
Tired of searching for a vintage tweed champ
you can afford? Let's face it Fender amps started going
downhill the day CBS bought them out in 1965.
Clara builds amps in the tradition of the masters and
don't cut corners like the bean counters just to save a
couple of pennies. This is a true point to point, class A, 5
watt amp with a classic Tweed look. Don't let the low
wattage fool you, this puppy screams!
The beauty of buying an amp from the guy who's actually
building it is... YOU GET TO CUSTOMIZE IT... Cover it in
snakeskin tolex, or drop a 12 inch speaker into this puppy.
Clara builds a replica of Leo's sweet vintage Tweed that
actually sounds and looks as good as his original for a
fraction of the price?
Starting at $695 CAD, for the standard tweed champ combo.
DELUXE 5E3
This is a replica of the famous
fender 5E3 circuit. Here is a great description of the
deluxe from one of our customers, who owns the head version
and 3 separate cabinet configurations:
"When I played the deluxe, I stopped hearing the
music, and started feeling it. I couldn't quite pinpoint
what I felt, and then it hit me - I was transported back to
the late 50's, and I was sitting in a bedroom playing
guitar. And as I turned up the volume, I started hearing the
same thing that those players heard, and I finally
understood how Rock and Roll started."
The boys in Quality Control recorded the
following SOUND CLIP. It's a Musicman Silhouette
with humbuckers, straight into a Deluxe head, going into a
2X10 cabinet filled with one each of a ceramic and alnico
Jensen, at a "clean" volume well below saturation. Listen
for the "chime" and remember, this unit does not have reverb
!
This second SOUND CLIP is the same amp, volume
turned up to get saturation, using a Fender Custom Shop
Strat into a Mesa 2X12 cabinet with Black Shadows. Listen to
that tone...
Available in 1 X 12, 2 X 12, or 2 X 10 combo. Or
you can mix and match cabinets and purchase just the head.
The 1 X 12 combo in tweed starts at $1,195 CAD.

18 WATTS OF REAL POWER
This is Marshall's sleeper. Plexi
tones at volumes that won't split your eardrums. Power tube
saturation at a volume that won't drown out your drummer.
Let's face it, EL84's create a unique sound that just can't
be replicated with any pedal.
Listen to sound clips from the 2X10 combo
pictured at top. Thanks to Kevin Herring from The Ronnie
Hayward Trio for moonlighting in Quality Control to play a
few licks!
Available in 1 X 12, 2 X 12, 2 X 10, and seperate
head versions.
Either tremolo or TMB configurations.
18 watt board with tremolo circuit
Starting at $1,695 CAD in 1 X 12 tremolo model.
HOT ROD 2204
Another sweet Marshall style circuit: the
2204 JCM800.
This is the master volume 50 watt amp that will rip your
head off, and cut through the mix. We've had loud drummers
comment on the volumes this can achieve. But it's volume
capabilities are only half the picture - the other half is
the incredible tone - you've got to hear it to believe it.
HERE IS A SOUND CLIP, called
Funky
Hot Rod
This is a clip of the custom Red Hotrod 2204 built for a
guy in Chicago (see above right image). It is a special
order, and it sounded so good, we had to record it. We
played it through a Mesa 2X12 with Black Shadows, but it
sounded better with Celestion Vintage 30's (we didn't have
any at the recording). We recorded this with a Strat, using
(the best in the world) Vintage Vibe Strat pickups (thanks
Pete !) pickups, straight into the amp, no effects. The
guitar is plugged into the high gain channel, but the gain
is below medium. The strat is set to position 2.
Available in traditional sized head or in a compact
'backpacker' head for ease of portability. Also available:
The Hot Rod 2204 for even more gain.
